One Choice: Obama

TV catchup

If you missed Senator Obama’s appearance on David Letterman Wednesday night, watch it HERE and HERE. (Thanks, Therese!)

Watch his wonderful conversation on service at the Columbia University Presidential Forum last night HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. The McCain segments are also available there. Compare the two and you’ll see a public servant versus a statesman, IMHO. I thought Obama made his case with strength, inspiration and sensitivity to the 9/11 anniversary. Well done!

SNL alert! SNL alert! You just knew that they’d put Tina Fey on the season opener to do her take on “Tina” Palin. I just heard today that Obama will also be on the show. OMG, must-see TV!

Wired to not blink

In her interview with ABC News’ Charlie Gibson, Gov. Sarah Palin answered his question on whether she had enough experience to be vice president with “you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we’re on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can’t blink…”

Wired? Interesting turn of phrase. It reminded me of a good op-ed post by Nina Burleigh at the Huffington Post called “Who Is The Handler?” In her piece, Burleigh writes that this ain’t no country bumpkin we’re dealing with. She says “Sarah Palin’s entry into politics and subsequent rise has all the hallmarks of having been engineered, coached and groomed by bigger outside forces with a bigger plan.” Make that wired. With Palin reverting to the mindset that 9/11 and Iraq were somehow linked during her sendoff speech for National Guard troops yesterday, I’d say those handlers have neocon written all over them, by Rove!
In her successful campaign to become mayor of Wasilla, the incumbent, Burleigh writes, said Palin injected “all this ideological stuff, and I was like, ‘Whoa. But that got her elected: abortion, gun rights, term limits and the religious born-again thing. I’m not a churchgoing guy, and that was another issue: ‘We will have our first Christian mayor.’” Hmm, how often does a mayor get to vote on issues such as abortion, gun rights, term limits…?
Burleigh closes by saying “I hope the crack investigative reporters up in the Northland now can track down the original groomers, although I suspect the fingerprints from the brainy individuals based in Virginia have been wiped away. They are a careful lot, and they think a long, long ways ahead.”
Wonder what type of solder they used on that wiring?
