One Choice: Obama

I heart Keith Olbermann

Thank you, Keith Olbermann. On a night when most of the media were jabbering on ad nauseum about the faux porcine affront, you cut through the offal and delivered a stinging assessment of the core of the GOP offensive. That is, the branding of the horror of 9/11 as a trade marked GOP talking point.
In his eloquent and fiery special comment tonight,Olbermann says:

“9/11 (TM) has made possible the greatest sleight-of-hand in our nation’s history.
“The political party in office at the time of the attacks, at the local, state and national levels, the party which uniformly ignored the warnings and the presidential administration already through twenty percent of its first term and no longer wet behind the ears, have not only thus far escaped any blame for the malfeasance and criminal neglect that allowed the attacks to occur, but that presidency and that party, have managed to make it seem as if the other political party would be solely and irredeemably responsible for any similar catastrophe in the future.”

Tomorrow I’ll pick the last rose in the garden and lay it down on the memorial to my friend, Joe, who was killed in the World Trade Center. To think that his horrific death could have been prevented if the idiots in power had paid attention when “the system was blinking red”… To think that his death was used as fodder by the likes of Dick Cheney to foment an attack on Iraq, a war for which there was no evidence of a genuine U.S. threat… To think that his death could be used as a political offensive by a team that threw out the rulebook years ago…
One of my favorite memories of Joe was the night we were listening to music and he wanted me to hear this new band: U2. Before he played the song, he said “Listen to these lyrics…”

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

“Pride,” of course, was written about Martin Luther King. Now we have the opportunity to see Dr. King’s dream come true — through the election of the first black president of the United States.
That man, Barack Obama, had to say “Enough!” again today to the smear tactics, lies and other Swiftboatery by the GOP. Tonight, I echo Keith Olbermann AND Barack Obama by saying, in memory of my friend Joe, ENOUGH! Return sanctity to the memories of those we lost on 9/11. NEVER AGAIN, should it be such for gross politicization!

Lipstick Mark of the Beast

You can see an obvious RRR all over the GOP’s faux hubbub response toward a casual comment by Sen. Barack Obama yesterday.
RRR, as in the Evil One — Karl Rove. And yes, he has admitted that he is advising the McCain/Palin ticket. Hang around cloven hooves, you act like cloven hooves… you know what I mean?
Tell me why is it fair play for Sen. John McCain to use the phrase “I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” three times when directly referring to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health plan — with no furor — yet when Obama, after speaking about McCain for 45 minutes and not mentioning his running mate, uses the same phrase he’s branded sexist and the GOP demands he apologize to Gov. Sarah Palin?
These are the same yahoos, RRR-shepherded yahoos, who are demanding that Oprah put Palin on her show. Since when should government types decide who must go on a national talk show? Fascists: they walk among us (and in goosestep with RRR).
In the meantime, if the makeup fits, Sarah…
