I’m starting this blog with some friends because I am extremely concerned that we MUST elect the correct person as our president in November. And, in my opinion, that person is Sen. Barack Obama.
Why should you care what I think? Well, obviously Obama’s challenger cares what I think. I’m one of those women who wanted Hillary Clinton for president. The other team thinks that they could lure me to their side and that I would be willing to accept any woman as a supplement, in either slot for office. Sorry, but there are few women in this country who could match Clinton’s experience and name recognition.
The thing was, Hillary and Obama shared many of the same concerns for this country, and the same solutions. While I would love to see the first woman elected president, it will be equally exciting to see the first black president.
The alternative is quizzical and frightening. With Obama’s ticket, one heartbeat away is Sen. Joe Biden, a man with much foreign policy experience. With McCain’s ticket, one heartbeat away is Gov. Sarah Palin, a woman with none (although she can, supposedly, field dress a moose).
The Democratic ticket aims to inspire Americans to help themselves, and others, live that American dream. The Republican ticket aims to scare the bejesus out of us all (and with that VP choice, they’re almost there).
From now until Nov. 4, I and some like-minded friends will make our case for why Sen. Barack Obama should be the 44th president of the United States. Thanks for hearing us out.
